XIII. PERSPECTIVE: ALL IN ONE

Zombadings: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington is an all in one movie. For it is packed with various genres: comedy, horror, love story, slice of life but at the same time is tackles one of our societal issues. Who would have thought that these type of genres can be place in one movie all at the same time, right? I can't even imagine it not until I had seen the movie.

Zombadings: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington is an indie suspense comedy film which revolves to a boy named Remington, portrayed by Martin Escudero. When he was a child, he mocks all the gay people that he sees and there came a time when he and her mother went to a cemetery, he saw and mocked a gay man. The gay man cursed Remington that on his 21st birthday he will turn into a gay.

Many years later, he returned to his hometown and found out that there were several murder cases about gay people being killed. And as the time passed by he realize that something has changed in his way of speaking without realizing that he was turning gay.

I must say that it is a subversive movie for it tackles the problems that most gay people are facing. The movie shows that even though there are a lot of gay people in Remington's community, they are not fully accepted. They are being mocked by the people surrounding them. In addition, it is also a subversive film for it showed the differences between men and women. Mostly you see women specifically mothers as housewives and men or fathers as the breadwinners but somehow this movie showed the other way around. Remington's mother was a police officer and his father was the one who manages their small business.

Aside from being a subversive film, Zombadings also showed the funny side of the movie amidst the criticism that the gay people are facing. The character of Martin Escudero alone was funny enough by his gay actions and language but there were still lot of scenes that I found really funny. just like the scene where Mrs. Montano, the mother of Remington's girlfriend, did rollerskating inside her house and then Remington did some gay language and Mrs. Montano laughed so much without even knowing what Remington had said.

I must say that the characters did a great job with their roles, most especially Martin Escudero. He really did very well, not only because he made his role very funny and all, but also because he portrayed well as a gay. I know that it's hard to make the viewers laugh and at the same time to be a gay when you're not really  a gay.

Well seriously speaking, this movie is really great even though it's kinda weird when you still haven't seen the movie but, nah. It is also a great movie because it gives important message to those people who give discrimination and bad thoughts about gay people. This movie showed the viewers to accept people even though they are of different gender and that we should accept the things they do because they are just being true to themselves.
